About Golden Arrow Challenge
Piercing changes the geometry
A standard arrow stops at the first target it hits. A golden arrow does not stop at all - it carries on to the edge of the range, scoring every target along its path with no reduction in value.
This turns the game from an aiming problem into a geometry problem. You are no longer looking for a target; you are looking for a line.
Layouts that hide their lines
Targets are arranged in loose clusters that look random and are not. Every layout contains at least one line through four targets and usually one through five, but they are rarely horizontal and almost never obvious.
The most valuable habit in this game is to pause before spending a golden arrow and actually look for the diagonal. It is nearly always there.
Three is exactly the right number
Three golden arrows against eight layouts means you cannot use one per stage. You have to decide which layouts deserve them, and that decision is the game.
The best runs typically save two for the final two layouts, where target density is highest and a well-placed golden arrow can be worth more than everything before it.
How to play
- Aim and shoot standard arrows as normal - they stop at the first target.
- Press G, or the Golden button, to load a golden arrow.
- Golden arrows pierce every target along their path.
- You carry three golden arrows and twenty standard ones for the whole run.
- Look for the diagonal line before spending one.

| Where | What to do |

Scoring
Points are awarded by which band of the target you hit, multiplied by your combo multiplier where the game uses one.
Tips
- Every layout contains a line through at least four targets. Find it before you shoot.
- The best lines are diagonal, not horizontal. Horizontal rows are the decoy.
- Save at least two golden arrows for the last two layouts.
- A golden arrow through three targets is a waste - wait for four or more.
- Standard arrows still score. Do not sit on your golden arrows so long that you run out of ordinary ones.
Common mistakes
- Spending a golden arrow on the first cluster you see.
- Only looking for horizontal lines.
- Saving all three golden arrows and finishing the run with them unused.
- Forgetting that golden arrows still obey gravity - the line has to account for the drop.
