About Apple Target
A deliberately gentle premise
The classic apple-on-a-head story is not what this game is. There are no people in it, no risk and no implied harm - just fruit on posts on a practice range, which is how the drill is actually run in a training hall.
That choice also makes the game better. Because the post is an obstacle rather than a person, it can be made narrow and unforgiving without the game feeling unpleasant.
The margin is the game
Each fruit is roughly a third of the width of a normal target face, and it sits directly on top of a post about the same width. That gives you a very small band of acceptable error: too high and you sail over for nothing, too low and you take the post.
As rounds progress the posts get taller and the fruit gets smaller, which means the arc your arrow needs becomes steeper and the acceptable band narrower at the same time.
Lives and rounds
Three lives, lost only to post hits. A clean miss into open air costs you nothing but the arrow and your combo, which is a deliberate design choice: this game punishes recklessness, not caution.
Clear all the fruit in a round and the next one begins immediately with more targets and less margin. The score curve is steep, so reaching round five is worth far more than grinding round two.
How to play
- Aim at the small fruit target sitting on top of each post.
- Click or tap to shoot.
- Hitting the post costs one of your three lives.
- Clear every fruit in the round to advance.
- The game ends when all three lives are gone.

Scoring
Points are awarded by which band of the target you hit, multiplied by your combo multiplier where the game uses one.
Tips
- Aim at the top half of the fruit. An arrow that arrives a little high still scores; one that arrives low does not.
- Take the closest posts first - the shallow arc gives you the widest margin while you settle in.
- A deliberate miss over the top is always better than a rushed shot into the post.
- Watch the arc preview's landing point rather than the aim line's direction.
- In later rounds the posts get tall enough that you must arc over the ones in front. Plan the order.
Common mistakes
- Aiming at the centre of the fruit, which leaves no margin at all for the drop.
- Shooting at the furthest target first while your feel for the arc is still cold.
- Firing again immediately after losing a life instead of resetting your aim.
- Forgetting that a clean miss is free - many players take a risky shot to avoid one.
